The world, Europe and Norway are in the midst of a large-scale transition of their energy systems. To succeed in this massive project, we need good energy system models and analyses. Would you like to work in one of the world's foremost and most innovative research environments in energy systems analysis and modelling? SINTEF Energy Research is looking for more research scientists who want to help shape the sustainable energy system of the future.

How are gas and electricity prices determined? How can we ensure that we have the energy we need in the short and long term? How can energy markets contribute to realising the zero-emission society? How can integration between energy carriers make the energy system robust, more efficient, and more sustainable?

The energy system models of the future, which we are developing at SINTEF, will provide answers to these questions. With us, you will have the opportunity to work on improving these models for the development and operation of the energy system of the future and contribute to a successful green transition.

We are looking for candidates with knowledge of programming, optimisation and understanding of energy systems. We have several positions available, and are looking for people with skills in one or more of the following areas:

· Energy system modelling, optimisation and analysis

· Power market, power system and load flow analyses

· Programming of models and algorithms (Python, Julia, C++)

· Data-driven modelling and AI

· Machine learning and artificial intelligence

· Economics

· Sustainability and life cycle analyses

At SINTEF Energy Research, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in many areas. Teamwork is important since our projects usually require the efforts of several specialists. In addition to academic work and scientific publication, everyday research includes project management, development, and dissemination. You will also have opportunities for networking in industry and academia in Norway and internationally.

We encourage both recent graduates and experienced researchers to apply. A PhD is not required, but over time, our ambition is that most researchers at SINTEF Energy Research acquire a PhD - there are exciting topics to research in this context in a number of our projects.

We work closely with NTNU, national and international leading academic environments and the business community in several exciting projects both nationally and internationally. Through our academic environment, you will have the opportunity to work in several of the Research Council of Norway's Centres for Environment-friendly Energy Research, such as HydroCen, CINELDI, NTRANS and NorthWind, as well as EU projects at the forefront of research.

We offer:

· A world-leading research environment of great social significance

· Unique opportunities for professional and personal growth in an environment where most researchers have a doctorate

· Good leadership and systematic development of leadership talents

· A good and inclusive working environment that values diversity

· A varied and flexible working day at what has been named Norway's most attractive employer in 2022

· Competitive and contractual salary

· Good pension and insurance benefits
