We're 20,000 colleagues in more than 30 countries delivering oil, gas, wind and solar power to 170 million people worldwide. Taking on tough energy challenges is our job. Right now, we're facing an enormous task: supplying the world with the energy it needs, while lowering emissions.

We're up for the challenge. Are you?

The position

By joining our team in Marketing, Midstream & Processing you will have the opportunity to:

Work close to the industrial plant at Tjeldbergodden where you will be part of an operations engineering unit with process expertise. The industrial plant consists of three factories: A gas receiving facility for natural gas from the Heidrun field, a methanol factory and an air separation unit (ASU). Simply explained, you can say that natural gas is converted into synthesis gas (with a little help from oxygen gas from the ASU) which in turn becomes methanol. Something worth noting about the synthesis gas is that it mainly consists of hydrogen. Hydrogen has been a topic in the energy debate for several years, and there is no way around hydrogen if the world wants net zero emissions. We at Tjeldbergodden are therefore proud to be able to say that we have expertise in hydrogen production and handling. Will you become part of this expertise?

We are looking for candidates within the process discipline in operation and technical department. One of these candidates should be a person with an interest/experience in both process and simulation.

A process engineer will hold the role of technical or operational system manager. Examples of areas for distribution (but not limited to) are gas receiving facility, auxiliary facilities, reforming section, synthesis, distillation, tank farm, product jetty, effluent treatment, central control room and simulator. A process engineer also cover important tasks within energy and process optimization, general improvement work, external environmental tasks and serves as a contact point for external actors. You will be involved in these tasks to a greater or lesser extent.

There will be an individual assessment in each case as to which areas and tasks are available for allocation.

Other tasks in the role of process engineer (but not limited to):

  • Follow up the plants operational and technical condition.

  • Contribute to risk assessments.

  • Participate in improvement work.

  • Ensure safe, effective and reliable operation of the plant.

  • Ensure correct priorities within operation, maintenance and projects for own process areas.

  • Write instructions to the control room and system- and operational documents for own process areas.

  • Follow up modification proposals and participate in project studies.

You will face interesting challenges both related to existing facilities and possible new value chains towards a low-carbon future.
