The job
We are looking for an experienced Industrial Designer to join our Hardware Technology Platform team. This team develops and delivers core hardware capabilities that are scalable and can be reused across multiple Laerdal products. In the role, you will mainly support the technology platform’s sub-team focusing on packaging and casing solutions. You will help design and develop modular solutions for shipping, storage and local transportation of Laerdal products. Designers in Laerdal are involved in all stages of the design process; from early phase user- and market analysis, ideation and concept development, detailed design and specification, to final product testing and validation. Everything we do happens in close loops with our users. In this role, you will also be the key contributor to a design language system for Laerdal's packaging/casing solutions. You will work in an energetic and cross-disciplinary team and have a solid, award-winning design group for support.
Key activities
- Collaborate with the platform manager on strategic choices, prioritizing of projects and team approaches
- Create a vision and guidelines to ensure holistically recognizable packaging/casing solutions with coherent and amazing user experiences
- Design packaging/casing solutions in collaboration with product teams to ensure the solutions best support the use cases of specific products
- Consider the manufacturability of the packaging/case design
- Collaborate with the user information and MarCom teams on branding and graphic design
- Collaborate with our sustainability and material experts and sourcing to guarantee our solutions are sustainable and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in materials and production methods
- Partner with external consultancies
- Create specifications of packaging/casing designs
About you
You are a talented industrial designer. You also have a strong interest in related design disciplines, and you enjoy many facets of design work. The design process is an integral part of everything you do while engaging others in your work methods.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree within industrial or packaging design
- 2-5 years of relevant experience
- Highly developed design skills, demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work
- Proven experience in involving the user throughout the design process
- Profound insight in user-centered design methodologies
- Strong communication and visualization skills, through sketching, rapid prototyping, or 3D modelling and rendering
- Strong collaboration skills in cross-disciplinary teams
- Strong networking skills within organizations

- Experience with graphic design
- Experience with designing soft goods

- Experience with design for sustainability
