Due to high workload and new projects, we are now hiring for -  Service Engineer - Automation

Product:

Wärtsilä’s alarm and control systems are used for controlling, monitoring, and analyzing vessel devices and processes.

The system consists of both software and hardware components and enables remote and on-site collecting of data from field equipment’s. In that way, it allows our customer to remotely manage energy savings such as fuel consumptions both in power plants and air conditioning onboard.

Tasks and responsibilities: 

• Service, system- refit and Sea Trial assistance world-wide
• Warranty handling in new build ships
• Analyzing software / hardware failures through support to ship-owner / ships personnel on high end automation systems mainly in Cruise ship market
• Troubleshooting / fault-finding / correction of software and hardware onboard sailing vessels
• Developing software and software templates both inhouse and on site

Skills:

• Experience with Automation systems (SCADA)
• Experience within programming PLC and/ or C++
• Experience with large/complex Networks
• Experience with technical troubleshooting on computer and electronic equipment’s
• Advantage with experience in power management systems / ships power plants and communication interfaces both serial and tcp/ip (e.g. modbus, NMEA...)
• Fluent English and Norwegian, both verbally and in writing

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree or equivalent; automation and programming
• Systematic and self-driven
• Eager to learn and overcome challenges with success
• Able to obtain security clearance according to National Security Authority regulations
