Hydro REIN offers renewable energy solutions for more sustainable industries.

The planet is facing unprecedented climate change and moving away from fossil fuels is the only viable solution. At the same time, biodiversity has in human history never declined as fast as it does today. This means that climate change and biodiversity loss must be tackled together.

Hydro REIN is an industrial venture fully owned by the global renewable energy and aluminium company Norsk Hydro. We facilitate access to affordable renewable power sourced from our portfolio of hydro, solar and wind projects in Brazil and the Nordics. We help our clients improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and cut costs, and we consider sustainability and safety to be an integrated part of our value proposition. Our diverse team has the expertise and the resolve to develop projects, services and solutions that make a difference for our clients and the societies they are part of.

The Projects team in Hydro REIN develops renewable energy projects in close collaboration with our Technology, Finance and Sustainability teams. We are now looking for an Environmental Specialist who will have the overall responsibility for safeguarding all environmental aspects in our renewable energy portfolio in the Nordics. • Further develop and implement Hydro REIN´s sustainability procedures focusing on our Nordic project portfolio.
  • Utilize and embed the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in your own work as well as provide GIS support to the wider REIN organization.
  • Some travelling will be required in this role.

Who are we looking for?

  • You have extensive experience from environmental safeguarding, including biodiversity aspects in the Nordics, and you have a proven history of successfully implementing Environmental Management Plans.
  • You have good knowledge of environmental laws and regulations in the Nordics as well as international standards for Environmental safeguarding, i.e. IFC's Performance Standards and Equator Principles.
  • You have experience in the use of GIS to support development and implementation of renewable energy projects.
  • You have the ability to see the big picture and being solution oriented.
  • You have solid communication skills.
  • You have relevant higher education and minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • You have professional proficiency in English and a Scandinavian language.

We believe you are someone who appreciates the diverse and dynamic environment in Hydro REIN, and who wants to be a key contributor in Hydro REIN's role in the industrial energy transition both in the Nordics and beyond.
