HVDC Service Engineer

At HVDC and FACTS Service in Oslo, we now have an open position as Service Engineer.

You are an experienced engineer or newly graduate looking to join our team of technology pioneers. You wish to challenge yourself to work on some of the most complex technical energy transmission systems facing a wide range of applications, well adapted into the environment and renewable energy transmission.

As a Service Engineer you will be working towards the Norwegian installed base of HVDC and FACTS systems, both on onshore and offshore installations.

Services provided from our team are to a high extent focused on the HVDC and FACTS specific control and protection system but will also include services on the primary components constituting the complete installations.
The nature of tasks varies; from long term projects to emergency call-outs.
Our HVDC and FACTS service portfolio includes fault analysis/troubleshooting, emergency phone support, corrective maintenance, condition monitoring, data analytics, cyber security offerings and partial upgrades.
In addition, you will be involved in developing the service portfolio as well as taking technical lead in sales and tendering work. In Oslo HVDC and FACTS Service is currently a team of 6, working close with the global organization in Sweden.

Main tasks;

  • Testing, fault analysis, troubleshooting, commissioning and engineering
  • Carry out services via phone and remote support
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on site
  • Being part of mobilization duty team, which involves mobilization to a site upon short notice
  • Contribute to tendering and planning of execution phase
  • Identifying customer needs and demands and translate those into business opportunities

 Frequent travel can be expected. Newly graduates can be considered for this position, with the expectation of enrollment in long term training, likely abroad.

 Requirements

  • Safety focused
  • Higher education within electrical disciplines or similar
  • Good knowledge in relevant programming tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger project team
  • Taking great ownership and responsibility to assigned tasks
  • Systematic and well-organized way of working

Advantages

Work experience or knowledge within any of the following:

  • HMI/ SCADA systems for control systems and/ or energy industry. For example AVEVA System Platform, Micro SCADA, Networking
  • Protocols for energy automation systems like IEC61850, IEC101, IEC104, OPC, DNP and the corresponding communication structures
  • Engineering and commissioning background in control and protection systems for HVDC/FACTS, alternatively automation or large electrical drives

Experience from work on site (installation, test, commissioning)

Offshore certificate

Language skills

English, fluent verbally and in writing.
Norwegian or other Scandinavian language, fluent verbally and in writing is an advantage.
