Norges Bank Investment Management is seeking a senior data analyst to join its ESG Analytics team. The ESG Analytics team sits within the Corporate Governance department and is responsible for driving the integration of ESG data into the investment and ownership process. You will work with a cross-departmental group of economists, data scientists, and portfolio managers to identify and exploit proprietary and external ESG data to improve portfolio management and company engagement.

You will be responsible for contributing throughout the ESG analytics value chain – from maintaining ESG data to collaborating with portfolio managers and engagement teams to develop new insights for investment, ownership activities and policy development, as well as reporting on results.

In this role, you will also manage data projects, develop and maintain reporting tools, and write up and communicate the research findings. All this in collaboration with colleagues across the organsation.

The position is located in either Oslo or London and will report to the Head of ESG Analytics. Some travel will be required.

Duties and responsibilities

Preferably Master’s or PhD degree in finance, economics, information technology, engineering or other relevant field with strong academic records

  • Ideally at least 3 years of relevant work experience in quantitative analysis, data management and modelling
  • Very good programming skills (e.g. Python) and knowledge of data processing tools such as SQL or Tableau
  • The ability to communicate complex information in an engaging, synthesised and impactful manner
  • Investment mind-set and the ability to take initiative and a keen interest in finance, governance and sustainability questions
