Orkla Group Procurement (OGP) is the centralized procurement function which handles procurement of categories that have strategic importance across several Orkla businesses, where there are synergies in spend. We find synergy categories within Raw Materials, Commodities, Packaging and Indirect. In close collaboration with local Business Unit Procurement Teams, OGP's mission is to be a sustainable value contributor to the Orkla Business Units in everything we do. Like driving and supporting commercial processes and enabling the Orkla Procurement community through processes, policies, and development.

As a Procurement Category Analyst in the OGP organization, you will work with strategic sourcing for all companies in Orkla. The objective is to optimize the total cost of supply by continuous improvement within the defined categories as well as support innovation and responsible sourcing processes. The first 6-12 months you will focus on getting full insight into Orkla procurement organization and you will focus on cross-functional work assignments in a category for multiple Orkla companies.

Starting as Category Analyst we plan for you to work on projects that create synergies for Orkla. We want you to develop through continuously taking on more and broader responsibility and complex challenges, like strategy development, strategic sourcing processes, negotiations and contracting. You will be given the possibility to build up category competence, work in an international environment and drive our sustainability agenda. You will also develop your stakeholder management skills through exposure to the variety of Orkla companies, functions and external suppliers and partners.

The Category Analysts will work with categories within Packaging. Orkla annually buys packaging material for approx. 3 BNOK. The central packaging team plays an important role in leading the work and maximizing the synergies, while taking the business units individual demand/requirements into consideration. The team members must have high analytical and communication skills to handle lots of data, suppliers and stakeholders at the same time.

Orkla has worked many years to consolidate volumes, change suppliers and work with cost optimization and complexity reduction. It´s important to understand the whole value chain to be able to find cost improvements and to be successful in negotiations. Packaging sustainability is an opportunity and challenge going forward. Here there is a need to be up to date and work closely with the packaging sustainability manager and the business units, to find the best solutions for Orkla.

Specific responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Support key projects within the categories, with project management and analysis
  • Build up category competence within relevant categories
  • Report cost and capital improvements
  • Contribute to strategic sourcing processes including negotiations and contracting
  • Follow up on supplier performance within the areas of quality, delivery performance, food safety, responsible sourcing and competitiveness
  • Continuously monitor supply markets with regards to price and supply
  • Provide input to cost development process
  • Support Category Managers in strategy development

Experience & functional competences:

  • 0-2 years work experience
  • Master degree or equivalent
  • Analytical with ability to handle great amount of data and many suppliers/quotes in RFP processes
  • Negotiation skills with a proven ability to handle complex negotiations is preferred
  • Ability to work with several IT and system tools including Excel
  • Demonstrated capability for change management is preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems is preferred
  • Experience in managing international business relationships and suppliers is preferred

Personality traits and abilities:

  • Result oriented and thrives on driving change initiatives
  • Ability to influence and obtain buy-in from key stakeholders
  • Good business acumen, commercially minded and result oriented
  • Team oriented with a strong ability to establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills

Language skills:

Fluency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in a Scandinavian language is preferred.

Some travel can be expected in this role. The position can be located in Oslo or Malmö.
