Product Manager Operator Control - Marine Robotics

To meet an exciting and sustainable future, we are seeking a Product Manager to help create and deliver marine robotics solutions. With us you will take lead on the development of tech solutions for the marine environment.

You will be part of the Marine Robotics department, who create, design, and build autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and autonomous unmanned surface vessels (USVs) that can explore from the sea surface and down to 6000 meters below. Our vehicles can operate alone for days at a time, gathering information about the seafloor, the water, and objects in the water. We create and integrate advanced sensors for information gathering, maritime navigation, and communication. 

What you will be working on

We define Operator Control as the part of the system the operator gets to interact with. A lot of that is the software used to plan, control, monitor, and analyze the missions for AUVs and USVs. But our definition also includes the equipment and hardware, as well as their working environment.

You will work as a bridge between customers, sales, and engineering teams. You will support customers by analyzing their needs and issues and suggesting how our products can solve their problems optimally. You will manage and lead product and portfolio improvements and developments based on close cooperation with both customers and engineering teams.

You will be joining our product department which consists of a dedicated group of people responsible for the entire marine robotics portfolio at Kongsberg Maritime. You will occasionally join our field operators as well as our customers in the field to both learn as well as oversee and validate functions. To succeed in this role, we believe you need to be cooperative, responsible, and quality minded. You like to investigate and solve problems as part of a team and appreciate the importance of cooperation with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full life cycle of our Operator Control product portfolio, including operator software, hardware components, and habitats, from development to end-of-life
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the products
• Contribute to product strategy and set product roadmap
• Oversee R&D activities from requirements to validation
• Understand the market, the customers, and the competition
• Translating business requirements to technical requirements

Qualifications

• A bachelors degree or higher within relevant technical field. Experience can compensate for a degree.
• Previous experience within software engineering and management.
• You might be working as a project manager, product advisor, or within R&D, and want to take the next step in your career.
• You have excellent oral and written English skills.
