Do you want to take the challenge as our new field based Medical Advisor in Gastrointestinal Cancer in Norway? The difference starts with you! In this role you will work closely with colleagues in Norway and across the Nordics to execute the Medical Affairs Oncology strategy.


The role

You will play a pivotal role in supporting the strategy and clinical development of our oncology products, contribute to international and regional studies and will be responsible for medical/scientific activities for AstraZeneca’s marketed products and compounds in development for gastrointestinal cancer. You translate scientific knowledge and insights into strategies and tactics that drive decision making, support business success and make a true difference to patients.

A core element is to develop professional relationships and collaborate with Health Care Professionals (HCPs) and decision makers. You will provide scientific information and expertise in assigned product and/or disease area, conduct presentations in a non-promotional context, engage in scientific collaborations, lead projects and activities, and support clinical studies and potential HCP initiated clinical research. 

You will be a core partner for internal multidisciplinary teams as specialist in gastrointestinal cancer, both at local and Nordic level, providing medical expertise to product strategies, cross-functional plans and activities. 

You will join a growing medical team in Oncology Medical Affairs reporting to the Nordic Therapeutic Area Lead Gastrointestinal Cancer.


What you will do

  • Developing and implementing the local Medical Affairs Plan in Norway
  • Collaborate with HCPs and other partners to ensure appropriate use of established and future AZ products and establishing AstraZeneca as a collaboration partner in Norway
  • Facilitate scientific exchange activities to increase comprehension of clinical data and current practice and capture insights to guide strategies, tactics and optimal patient benefit/safety
  • Input on feasibility, choice of study centers and site support, identify new opportunities and evidence gaps, and partner with investigators to generate data to inform clinical practice
  • Support scientific programs that explore unmet medical needs and patient support
  • Assure quality and outputs are in accordance with written procedures, current legal requirements and internal standards


In order to succeed, you have

We are looking for a Medical Affairs professional who holds an advanced scientific degree and/or Master’s degree or MD in life sciences or a related subject area (required). Expertise in oncology and MD and/or PhD with clinical experience and/or a few years’ experience from a similar role is preferred.

  • Entrepreneurial and collaborative approach to engaging with external partners as well as cross-functional colleagues.
  • Forward thinking, without compromising the scientific elements of the job.
  • Ability to travel, driver’s license and proficient language skills in Norwegian and English required.

You have experience from working in cross-functional teams, a patient focused approach and integrity in customer interactions. Good planning, communication and organizational skills and an ability to achieve results without compromising quality is required.

Your proven ability to understand, assimilate and communicate scientific information and context to a variety of audiences is essential for the role as is an understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, health care system and payer structures in Norway.
