Wilhelmsen Ships Service sells maintenance products and service to globally trading vessels in 70+ countries, through 50+ legal entities in all corners of the world. The end-users of our products (the vessels) move from one part of the world to another within the span of weeks and expect to get a fully integrated and seamless customer experience wherever they are. This a fundamental aspect of our business, and it requires WSS to operate a truly global (not just multi-national) business model, in which products and tasks are distributed throughout our global marine supply system.

What you’ll be doing:

As a key member of Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) finance department, the Global Tax Manager will work closely with the VP Finance and other finance team members at both the global and local level. We are currently also recruiting an Indirect Tax Manager, who you will be working closely with in this role. The function’s main goal is to be an efficient support to the business goals of WSS and specific responsibilities include securing WSS - group tax compliance, group tax planning strategies and Transfer Pricing.

You will be responsible for:

• Overall tax compliance
• Strategic tax planning, included utilization of Double Tax Agreements
• Development/maintenance of transfer pricing models and corresponding global transfer pricing agreement
• Address withholding tax issues in the different countries that WSS operates
• Implementation and maintenance of tax efficient legal structure
• Advice and support the finance teams of WSS subsidiaries on tax audits and tax claims handling
• Assist and advice with regards to development and maintenance of tax reporting procedure
• Support on tax planning in cases regarding mergers and acquisitions on an ad-hoc basis, in cooperation with external advisors and/or other Wilhelmsen group tax resources
• Assist in coordination of global tax advice services
• Liaise with Wilhelmsen group corporate tax resources and other internal stakeholders
• Ad hoc analysis / tasks

Required experience and skills:

• Master’s degree in law / business
• Minimum 3-4 years of relevant experience
• Good knowledge of international tax, especially transfer pricing
• Good command of written and spoken English language
• Good knowledge of OECD guidelines
• Analytical and capable of transferring theoretical knowledge into practice
• Ability to work on own initiative and in a team
• Structured and accurate

Additional preferences:

• Strong interpersonal understanding with an awareness of different cultures within the customer base, team and organization
• Ability to meet deadlines through good time management and allocation of priorities
• Understanding of the underlying business, and be willing to make decisions, not only recommendation

Work Location:

The role will have a base at Lysaker, Norway, but flexible working arrangements will be available, and some travel is to be expected. For the ideal candidate alternative locations to Lysaker, Norway could be considered.
