Position Summary

PGS has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join the Business Development Europe team in Oslo, Norway. The position will:

  • Contribute to Europe regional MultiClient and Contract Business Development activities related to finding projects for the PGS fleet.
  • Deliver project revenues and profitability in accordance with company targets.
  • Execute vision and strategy of Business Development Europe as input to, and aligned with, the overall strategy of EURASIA and all of PGS.
  • Securing vessel backlog through contract sales and investment for MC acquisition programs
  • Monitor emerging markets where PGS' core competences can lead to a competitive advantage.

Main Tasks

  • Manage Contract tender process and act as project owner
  • Develop new MultiClient projects
  • Develop supporting business plans for new projects.
  • Ensure project goals are achieved through active participation, guidance and communication within the project team
  • Strategic positioning of PGS in both existing and new geo-markets
  • Secure prefunding revenues
  • Work closely with Bid Manager and Project Manager for new Contract and MultiClient programs
  • Manage customer communication for new acquisition projects
  • Provide project handover and support to Sales & Marketing
  • Coordinate sub-regional Europe activities with Sales & Geoscience resources
  • Actively look for new business opportunities across the PGS product lines
  • Cross BU synergy and opportunity development
  • To encourage and facilitate an open dialogue, sharing all business intelligence across PGS

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Comprehensive experience from upstream oil and gas industry.
  • Comprehensive experience dealing with seismic data and seismic technology
  • Solid project focus experience.
  • Experience in sales and marketing, preferably from the oil services industry.
  • Solid operational experience in an international organization.
  • Proven ability to drive and manage change processes.

Competencies

  • Strong MultiClient and Contract business development skills including negotiation and thorough understanding of the PGS’ PEM system.
  • A solid business perspective, able to generate, pursue and negotiate business opportunities.
  • Proactive and adaptable, strong knowledge of full PGS service offering, able to plan and organize own work and to operate as part of a team in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to manage relationships within PGS as well as with clients, governments, JV partners, fisheries and other relevant parties.
  • Good and current knowledge of seismic and exploration technology.
  • In-depth understanding of hydrocarbon prospectivity and oil company value chain.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen: good industry understanding and ability to translate business expectations and strategy into tactical and operational plans and execute on these.
  • Proven ability to identify and manage commercial risk.
  • Communication skills: ability to build sound external relationships and to clearly communicate business and tactical plan to clients and all internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset: ability to create a positive climate for collaboration and development.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, service oriented.

  • Good presentation skills
  • Self-motivated and pro-active with ability to generate ideas using seismic and/or subsurface expertise as enabler to drive business
  • Ability to work in teams and to be active contributor
  • Ability to travel on short notice and work flexible work hours.
  • Foreign language proficiency preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher university degree in geology, geophysics or similar
