The opportunity

The Software Architecture Team is responsible for architecting the Silicon Labs Software Development Kit (SDK). We help the software organization create a better, easier to use and feature-rich SDK to ensure customer success. We do this by improving internal development processes and architecting complete solutions in collaboration with a software development organization which spans the entire globe. Our focus is to improve code quality and developer experience across the entire SDK, spanning a multitude of different technologies and wireless chips. We aim to provide guidance to both the software development organization and the IC development organization within Silicon Labs. We are at the forefront of developing next generation wireless software and hardware. We also work with various standards bodies to further advance the entire embedded software field across the industry.

Silicon Labs Norway is looking for an Embedded Software Architect with a passion for creating next generation embedded software. You should enjoy working with others and be a strong technical lead for other developers. You need a keen eye for developer experience and solutions for the embedded space. You will be working closely with other functions in the company to bring new technology to the market.


The role

  • Architecting next generation embedded software for the Gecko SDK
  • Improving the processes of the global embedded software organization
  • Working with IC designers to help develop the next generation of IC products
  • Work with marketing to understand customer requirements and needs
  • Working with various standards bodies to improve the entire ecosystem
  • Serve as a link between the customers and the development teams
  • Work with product management to prioritize resourcing and the direction of the various products
  • Coordinating with other stakeholders like IC design, marketing, software architecture, systems engineering, application engineering and hardware tools.


We would like you to have:

  • Experience in embedded software programming
  • Experience with Internet of Things technologies, such as wireless communication stacks, machine learning and embedded security
  • Experience in software architecture
  • Experience in leading technical teams
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or other related field
