We are now seeking a Senior Computational Structural Biology Scientist to join our Nykode team and make an impact on our portfolio! In this role, you will lead computational modeling of protein and peptide structures in Nykode’s discovery projects and collaborate closely with bioinformaticians, structural biologists, immunologists and data scientists to advance Nykode’s therapeutic platforms.

Job Title: Senior Computational Structural Biology Scientist

Location: Oslo, Norway / Copenhagen, Denmark


In this role, you will:

  • Together with our software engineer team, establish structure-based computational methods and technical framework to advance discovery and development of wide array of therapeutic modalities including fusion proteins, peptides and antibodies
  • Identify and recommend structural and computational strategies to accelerate project delivery
  • Provide computational structural biology insights and support to identify potential improvements of protein design optimizing towards drug-like properties, immunogencity or other preferred functionalities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams; identify key needs and apply computational approaches accordingly
  • Maintain strong engagement with external professionals and outside vendors
  • Train, supervise and develop Scientists in structure-based computational methods
  • Train and supervise scientists in computational structural biology to accomplish program and company goals
  • Work productively in a team environment and independently deliver on timelines
  • Contribute to scientistic publications and regulatory filings

 

Education and experience requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computational Structural Biology, Computational Biophysics or other relevant field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience beyond education/postdoctoral training in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or research organization
  • Deep domain expertise on protein structure prediction, computational analysis on protein properties, protein-protein interaction, and/or protein-ligand docking and screening
  • Proficient with powerful computational tools, such as AlphaFold, RoseTTAFold, MOE/CCG, Schrodinger, Discovery Studio/Biovia or similar
  • Experience with molecular dynamics simulation, coarse-grained simulation
  • Protein chemistry or protein engineering experience is a plus
  • Prior experience working within drug discovery and immuno-oncology field is a major advantage
  • Creative problem solver and be able to influence team in positive direction
  • Strong teammate and willingness to work effectively in a collaborative and multi-tasking environment
  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent attention to the details with an analytical mindset
  • Excellent organizational, communication skills and a pro-active mentality
  • Demonstrated experience functioning within a multi-disciplinary team and ability to integrate cross-functional information, to optimize workflows
  • Strong cooperative team player, ability to be flexible and adapt to a changing environment, and creating an environment of collaboration
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • English fluency is required (verbal and written)


The role will report to Director, In Silico and AI Department.
