Senior Process Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer to contribute to our growing business! The candidate will be part of the technical team in the Energy product line and will be responsible for the engineering, construction supervision and commissioning support of energy handling systems for marine applications. Høglund’s contribution to the decarbonization of the shipping industry is done by delivering of solutions for the transition market, such as marine LNG fuel systems and gas handling systems for gas carriers, but also in the development of solutions for handling of future fuels such as ammonia, hydrogen, methanol or carbon neutral solutions.

The role will be involved in all stages of project execution, starting back in product development and well into engineering, procurement, construction supervision and commissioning of marine process plants for handling of combustible, cryogenic or pressurized energy carriers. The operational and safety aspects of enclosed spaces are major factors when designing the process plants.

Work tasks will typically be:

• Make Process Flow Diagrams and engineering design concepts.
• Running process simulations for heat and mass balances.
• Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s).
• Sizing of process equipment such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, PSV’s.
• Preparing control philosophies and cause & effect matrix.
• Preparing operation manuals and procedures.
• Specification of control valves.
• Attending commissioning and process plant start-up activities.
• Participate in HAZOP studies.

In addition to project engineering the candidate may be requested to provide input to R&D projects, technical and business development activities, as well as take part in improving the company’s internal processes, workflows, standard guidelines and templates.

We are looking for a candidate who can tick off these competencies:

• Holds a degree in Process Engineering or Chemical Engineering with strong process engineering skills or Mechanical Engineering with strong process engineering skills.
• Has 8 – 10 years working experience.
• Is proactive and can work independently.
• Has very good working proficiency in written and oral English language. 
• Has experience with maritime engineering projects would support the application. 
• Has a proactive communication and problem solving attitude.

Furthermore, we'll be excited if you are familiar with either of the following:

• Maritime industry and operator/charterer/shipyard workflows.
• Rules and Regulations applicable to gas handling marine equipment, namely IGC and IGF codes, as well as typical industry standards.
• Multi discipline work knowledge, especially gas, mechanical machinery/piping, electro, instrumentation and automation.
• Aware of issues and challenges on a modern vessel and the rapidly changing focus onto environmentally friendly shipping.
