Category Manager Technology

Wilhelmsen Ships Service has newly established the Technology Procurement team (Nov 2021) and is currently seeking to employ two applicants, one for each of the categories: Technology Products (software and applications, platform, and infrastructure) and Technology Services (consultancy and service providers). As the Category Manager, you will lead and perform procurement activities from A to Z within your category, providing the organization with the required products and services in the most time- and cost-efficient manner. The role will be responsible for a successful execution of structured, consistent, transparent, and efficient procurement processes in contract teams and in close collaboration with other key stakeholders.

The Category Managers report to Head of Technology Procurement in Ships Service. These positions will work in contract teams with members from across both Enterprise Applications and Digital, and with other key stakeholders within the Ships Service division and across the Wilhelmsen Group.

What you will be doing:

• Take part in building Technology Procurement excellence:

Defining principles for contract governance and supplier communication

Implementation of a procurement tool (planned for Q1 2023)

Coaching of stakeholders

• Improve category strategy, meeting business needs through sourcing, introduction, and development of new suppliers
• Stay up to date on the technology supplier landscape within the category
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers
• Perform qualification of potential suppliers, including risk assessments
• Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP processes and supplier negotiations
• Ensure contract award/drafting/signature, as well as contract management, renewal, and termination, in our procurement tool
• Actively take part in the team’s quest for eliminating e-mails in collaboration with our stakeholders, by making sure procurement is documented through user-friendly tools that optimize transparency

What we are looking for:

• Experienced procurement professional within IT procurement (software and applications, platform and infrastructure, technology consultancy or service providers)
• Knowledge of relevant contract standards (SSA-B, SSA- L, SSA-V, etc) 
• Experience with contract and supplier management
• Experience with procurement tools and processes
• Experience with digital collaboration tools (Atlassian, Azure DevOps, Teams, etc.)
• Self-going and self-managed, able to take own initiatives, establish and meet goals and timelines 
• Highly structured, organized and detail-oriented 
• Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks 
• Team player and service-minded, able to help, guide and support stakeholders 
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including experience in building relationships across the organization and with external suppliers 
• Ability to drive change and influence stakeholders across the organization 
• Trust in the Wilhelmsen group’s vision of shaping the maritime industry  

Ideal if you also have experience with one or more of the following:

• Experience as an IT category manager 
• Traditional IT project methodology
• Agile or Scrum
• Goal setting and performance measurement (i.e., OKR, KPI, etc.)
