The engineering team contributes during the ship design cycle, engineering Ulstein designs for building, as well as taking on consulting work during the sailing period. As an engineer you contribute to cross-disciplinary development of the ships’ systems. We seek you who have marine knowledge and background from marine electric systems.
Duties and responsibilities
- Design and engineering of ship electric/power systems in various project phases based on a balanced view of cost vs performance
- Capture / familiarize with requirements to the electric system and assess impact
- Configure and integrate electric systems and develop electrical system drawings/line drawings/schematics and arrangements for approval by class, owner and/or yard that meet building specification and regulatory requirements
- Understands the electrical main and sub-systems key functionalities, specifications, configuration, and associated components (power production and distribution, power management/control and energy consumers)
- Support with technical advice and equipment specifications/quality assurance
- Act as discipline lead in engineering projects
- Participate and contribute with discipline knowledge within the Company and in interface with external stakeholders
- Be familiar with relevant international and national regulations and legislation, class rules and standards
- Contribute to development and improvement of methods, standards, procedures, and technical solutions
Qualifications
- College / University, Master's degree
- College / University, Bachelor's degree
- Good skills in CAD software are a preference
- Knowledge of ship operations and associated requirements to electrical systems
- Good communication skills in English and Norwegian
- Experience from ship yard is an advantage
