About the role

As Nordic People & Culture Director you will be joining and leading the rest of the People & Culture team, as well as being responsible for driving and implementing people objectives as per our Nordic 3 year strategy plan. The team is currently based in Stockholm and consists of two HRBPs and one HR Generalist, some payroll administration is handled by the HR Generalist, reporting to an external supplier. An Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator and Stockholm office front desk reports into the team as well. The People & Culture team supports leaders, staff and volunteers across the four Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway & Sweden). 

Your role entails a mixture of strategic work, combined with operational, hands-on work in HR projects, as well as supporting our people in all aspects of their employment. You will also be a part of, and contribute towards, the global Greenpeace HR network.

About you

You have a minimum 5-7 years experience working with HR and at least 3 years experience in a leading HR function with personnel responsibility. We are looking for a candidate who understands complex organizations and who has broad knowledge of most areas of HR. It is of great importance that you have strong skills and proven achievements in strategic planning, knowledge sharing, culture and values, feedback, collaborative processes and leadership development. You should also have basic knowledge of employment law from at least one of the Nordic countries. A fluency in both written and spoken English is a requirement.

You are a strong believer of people first and a collaborative, genuine and flexible person who knows how to build trust and who shows high integrity. We also think that you are a self aware and inclusive leader with a good sense of perspective and dexterity navigating complexity. Furthermore, you are a good communicator, you role model a culture of learning by sharing your learnings and you have the ability to engage and truly influence others. We believe that you understand the link between HR, business and organizational strategy and that you’re proactive in your approach. To succeed in this role you know how to prioritize, achieve results, work effectively and role model high performance balanced with a healthy approach to work life.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead the Nordic People & Culture team and represent HR in the Nordic Senior Management Team, reporting to the Executive Director.
  • Drive, review and implement organizational strategy across the four Nordic offices
  • Positively influence and contribute to international Greenpeace HR initiatives, providing a Nordic perspective and contributing to overall leadership of global projects
  • Lead the development of an inclusive and collaborative work culture, which enables learning, innovation and high performance
  • Ensuring HR processes, policies and practices meet the strategic needs of the organization
  • Proactively identify and develop talent
  • Manage the relationship and the process/negotiations with the Nordic Work Council and the Swedish Union Club to ensure trustful and productive outcomes

    Additional information

    This is a full time, permanent position based in one of the four offices of Greenpeace Nordic. Preferably Helsinki, Oslo or Copenhagen, as HR doesn’t have representation in any of those offices. You will be expected to travel, from time to time, to all the Nordic regional offices.
