Nofence is growing quickly and our Product & Engineering team needs more talented people to help us build the world’s best solution for virtual fencing.

Nofence is currently the global leader within virtual fencing with 50.000 active collars in 5+ markets. Our current milestone is to be the first company in the world to reach 1.000.000 active collars, disrupting how farming is done across the world. We have ideas and plans for a lot of improvements to the product, and with the increased scale we will also face lots of interesting engineering challenges.

Our Product & Engineering team consists of engineers with a wide range of skills. We design and develop the mechanics of our physical product and the electronics that goes into it. We develop the firmware that runs on the device, and the cloud service it communicates with. We design and develop the mobile and web apps that our customers use. We are also responsible for the development of many internal applications and tools that keep our business humming. In short, there’s a lot of exciting work to be done!

As a distributed team we combat Zoom fatigue by physically getting together at least 6 times per year to socialize and work together. An important part of these gatherings is to get a chance to visit our customers and experience our product in action and learn about the business of our customers. You will learn a lot more about grass and grazing animals than you thought possible!

Nofence is looking for a Data Scientist to become our first in-house Data Scientist. In the years to come Data Science will be critical to our success as a company and you will have the chance to shape our Data Science Tech stack. We have some Data Engineering expertise, so you will get to focus on the sciency stuff and not have to worry much about keeping servers up or making sure that the data keeps flowing. We hope that sounds good to you! (But of course, if you really like the engineering stuff too that’s just great!)

In addition to all the data we collect from the sensors in our collars we also collect a lot of data throughout our value chain from manufacturing through logistics, sales, marketing and finance and from our website and app. As we scale up we believe that the insights we can gain from these data will become increasingly valuable, and we need you to

• Work closely with the rest of the Product & Engineering team to turn your beautiful science into tangible value for our customers.
• Champion the use of data and data science to improve all parts of our operation
• Provide data analytics and insights based on the data we gather
• Help identify areas where data analytics can provide value to our customers
  

• MSc or PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering or similar
• 3+ years working as a data scientist or in a similar position
• Some software development experience is a big plus
• Fluent English skills is a requirement, and it is an advantage to have good skills in Norwegian.

The role will include traveling. We hope you’ll be able to meet physically in one of our hubs: Batnfjordsøra (HQ), Oslo, Stavanger and Trondheim. However, we are also open to considering remote work for the right candidate.
