NES has high ambitions for increased activity in the years to come, and we need to strengthen our R&D team. Our branch office in Egersund focuses on bridge control and monitoring systems, developing software, firmware and electronics for bridge navigation and control systems. Therefore, we are seeking a competent software developer interested in signing on for an exciting voyage towards our goals. We are looking for experienced candidates and talented recent graduates with passion and strong results in technical subjects.

What do we expect from you?

You have Bachelor’s or Master’s or equivalent within cybernetics, electronics, software or Data Science. Experience may compensate for the lack of formal education.

You have at least five years of relevant experience and speak and write English at a high level. 

You may work on design and frontend development or apply your skills in geometry, cybernetics, signal analysis etc. You are preferably familiar with the marine industry, having worked on or developed navigation systems such as Radar, ECDIS, Autopilot or DP.

Our dream candidate is experienced and passionate about:

• C++, Qt, QML, JavaScript
• Other object-oriented languages
• Learning and applying new suitable technologies in collaboration with the team

And should not be scared off by sometimes:

• reading hundreds of pages of those international standards required to understand the problem you are to solve.
• reading technical literature and seeking guidance in the online community to solve problems.
• working with acquired code, code written by others or SDKs.

It's beneficial if you know developing applications for:

• Vessel control and monitoring applications, chart handling, radar, monitoring and vessel control.

And that you are familiar with tools such as:

• Git, Visual Studio, QT Creator

We also value competence in the folowing:

• Linux, Windows and other operating systems
• Cyber Security and network
• Computer architecture
• Python, MATLAB and Simulink
• PLC technologies
