We are hiring a senior Climate Policy Manager to support Hydro's climate agenda. The Climate Policy Manager will be part of the Climate Office team within Group Sustainability and Corporate Development. The Climate Office team is responsible for driving Hydro's climate and circular economy agendas, setting Hydro's long-term ambitions and strategies, following global trends and international legislative development, advocating solutions for the green transition of our industry, in addition to ensuring consistent accounting, reporting and communication throughout the company.

We are looking for a self-driven, enthusiastic and motivated person with an interest and curiosity for climate in general and policy development and execution in special. We can offer an exciting opportunity, in a time where climate regulation is in focus, to be part of and contribute to shaping and safeguarding Hydro's climate/sustainability agenda. You will be part of a vibrant and fast-paced work environment working with both corporate management and specialists, and you will work alongside colleagues specialized in climate, biodiversity, water management, circular economy, EU Taxonomy and more. Being part of Group Sustainability in Hydro, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on an industry faced with several sustainability challenges and great opportunities, and you will be able to build relationships and networks across industry and policy makers.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Follow and understand international climate related regulatory developments and implications for Hydro, including CO2 market developments in different regions
  • Develop and advocate Hydro's climate positions on important policy areas, particularly in Europe and Norway
  • Follow up implementation of Hydro's strategies on climate and circular economy
  • Ensure knowledge transfer internally and compliance with climate regulations
  • Provide relevant support, carry out risk assessment and new business guidance to Business Areas
  • Develop CO2 price prognosis in Europe and CO2 price assessments in regions of relevance to Hydro
  • Represent Hydro in different industry fora

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or similar in relevant area
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced international environment, such as an international company, international association, national government etc.
  • Good understanding of political processes, experience from engaging in climate related political processes, and comfortable in engaging in international settings
  • Analytical and able to drive processes, establish positions and advocate for them
  • Experience from complex processes with many stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Strong communication skills and ability to establish internal and external networks
  • Business orientation, with a slightly commercial mindset
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English is required, professional proficiency in Norwegian will be considered an advantage

Additional information
The position is in Oslo, reporting to Head of Climate Office. Some travelling is expected.
