Helly Hansen is looking for a Sustainability Director

Job Purpose: Develop and drive Helly Hansen’s global sustainability strategy and being the key person to bridge the projects and its outcome to all relevant departments.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the Sustainability team on a day-to-day basis and its projects to ensure continuity and quality in all outcomes.
  • Overarching responsibility for environmental, social and governance policies, standards, programs and action plans.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and influence management skills with the ability to gain credibility with Senior Management and challenge the status quo.
  • Advocate and lead brand sustainability topics horizontally across HH.
  • Develop roadmaps to outline how HH will achieve its long- and short- term sustainability objectives.
  • Interfacing with all relevant departments to align the HH business needs, including marketing, product, partners and commercialization.
  • Promote the sustainability strategy with HH’s key stake holders.
  • Manage submissions and responsible for reporting on sustainability projects.
  • Stay up to date on sustainable matters and regulations within the outdoor textile industry.

Critical Partnerships: CMO, Marketing, Digital, Sourcing, Product Team, Partners

Skills:

  • Background in social & environmental sustainability.
  • Background in textile constructions and processes.
  • BA degree in Textiles, Natural Science, Environmental Policy, Environmental Management or Sustainability are preferred.
  • Min 10 years of experience in the apparel industry.
  • Min 5 years of leader experience.
  • Structure and organizational skills. Analytical, detailed and thorough.
  • Outstanding leader and collaborator skills.
  • An energetic motivator who is passionate about sustainability.
  • An independent thinker, ahead of the rapidly evolving requirements for environmental responsibility.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Language skills must be fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Interest for outdoors is an advantage.
  • Experience from HIGG Index, SAC and geographical knowledge…..
  • Very good understanding and knowledge in Excel and general statistics.
