Are you interested in children's rights and the impact of climate change?

Climate change is one of the biggest threats to children's rights and Save the Children Norway is seeking a new technical program developer to sit in the Child Rights team in Oslo. The position will hold a key responsibility to contribute to protecting children against the effects of climate change by developing program concepts and proposals, analyzing the donor landscape and contributing to strategic donor engagement to secure funding from existing and new donors. 

The adviser/senior adviser will work closely with other technical advisors on program development and with our section for institutional partnerships on donor analysis and engagement to secure funding. The position will give thematic support and advise to selected country offices in Save the Children and connect to a broad international group of colleagues working with climate change and environmental destruction.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

• Ensure that our programs properly integrate climate change adaptation and environmental sustainability measures
• Map and identify new funding opportunities and engage with existing and potential new donors either directly or through SC coordination structures for donor partnerships and fundraising
• Program design, proposal development and fundraising targeting institutional donors and the corporate sector 
• Provide systematic technical advice and mentoring of staff and partners in country offices to support high quality climate interventions at country level. 
• Support country offices to identify and establish partnerships with relevant organizations and foster mutual empowering partnerships.
• Plan and deliver capacity development and training to in-country technical teams and partners, including cross country learning from good examples and program development based on global priorities. 
• Support quality documentation and reporting to monitor progress and learning in programs.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• International experience working with climate change adaptation and/or environmental protection.
• Academic qualifications at master's level in a relevant discipline.
• Knowledge of key political frameworks, relevant international legal instruments, international reporting and monitoring mechanisms, governance and networks at national and international level, as well as donor trends, priorities and funding mechanisms within the climate change sector.
• Experience with programme design, monitoring, results documentation and reporting.
• Experience with funding analysis and donor engagement
• Experience with proposal writing and fundraising from institutional donors and the corporate sector.
• Knowledge of one or more of the regions where Save the Children are supporting programs, including relevant language skills is an advantage. 
• Fluency in written and spoken English. Skills in Norwegian, Spanish and/or French is an advantage.
• Experience in designing and delivering training, including strengthening the capacity of key stakeholders.
