Therefore, Hydro is hiring a Sustainable Development Manager as part of the Social Responsibility team within Group Sustainability and Corporate Development. The team is dedicated to our goal of improving lives and livelihoods wherever we operate.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop and implement our just transition agenda and efforts, improving tools to measure results and collaborating across the company to strengthen social responsibility as a competitive advantage for Hydro. The team is responsible for driving Hydro's social responsibility agenda, managing and coordinating company policies and initiatives in the areas of human rights, social development, stakeholder dialogue, and other society and community related issues.
You will work alongside colleagues specialized in biodiversity, water management, climate, circular economy, EU Taxonomy and more. Being part of Group Sustainability in Hydro, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact in an industry faced with several sustainability challenges and opportunities. Hydro has operations in 40 countries and in this global role, you will collaborate with colleagues in all regions.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Contribute to developing and implementing our company-wide social responsibility strategy, goals and plans
- Develop and maintain corporate directives, guidelines, systems and tools relevant for the just transition agenda, including human rights due diligence
- Guide and advise line and corporate units on human rights due diligence and related matters
- Participate in business development projects
- Develop and carry out internal training
- Continuously develop and maintain stakeholder dialogue and engagement, including participation in external networks and coordination of global partnerships
- The position offers an opportunity to be part of shaping and safeguarding the sustainability agenda in a company with global impact, together with other group functions and business areas
Desired qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Minimum three years' experience with implementing sustainability projects in a corporate environment, combining business understanding with relevant policy fields. Experience with implementing social responsibility strategies is an advantage.
- Analytical and project management skills are required
- Advanced user of the Microsoft Office package, primarily PowerPoint and Excel
- Excellent command of verbal and written English is required, professional proficiency in Norwegian will be considered as an advantage
After six months you will have:
- Built relationships across the corporate staff units, corporate management board and with key personnel in Hydro's business areas
- Developed a solid understanding of Hydro's internal processes related to sustainability
- Finalized and started implemented Hydro's KPIs for the just transition
- Contributed to various business development processes, including M&A
- Facilitated discussions with a broad range of external and internal stakeholders around dilemmas in the just transition and other relevant human rights topics
- Identified and introduced improvements to Hydro's social responsibility processes, including human rights due diligence
