The School of Economics, Innovation, and Technology delivers research and study programmes at bachelor and master level and from 2022 at PhD level. The emphasis for both research and study programmes are on economics, innovation, digitalization and information technology. Information science, information systems and the interaction between technology and human beings are other exciting focus areas.

The department is expanding its online offers and offers in further and continuing education in cooperation with working life. The department has well-established research groups and research labs at a high international level. The successful candidate will strengthen our research, educational profile, and planned spezialitaten in FinTech Business Innovation for our Master of Science in Information Systems program. The position requires candidates with a passion for research and teaching, curiosity, and good problem-solving skills. 


About the Position 

The School of Economics, Innovation, and Technology at Kristiania University College is seeking candidates for a permanent full-time Associate Professor position, in the field of Information Systems /FinTech.  

The applicants should have strong research profiles, clear research visions, educational skills, as well as administrative skills related to research management.  

The successful candidate is expected to strengthen our research and education profile and help establish the field internally both in the form of existing and future study program and as a research area at our campus in Oslo. The position requires a passion for research and teaching, curiosity and good problem-solving skills. 

The successful candidate is expected to teach and supervise students at Bachelor, Master and PhD level. 


Primary assessment criteria:

Candidates must hold a PhD in Finance, Financial Computing, Financial Technologies, Financial Economics, Accounting, Information Systems with focus on FinTech applications, Business Analytics or an adjacent field. 

Candidates should have pedagogical qualifications, supervision experience and demonstrated ability to deliver high quality teaching. Ability to teach data science and analytics applications in finance is a plus.

The successful candidate is expected to undertake research in the area of financial technology (FinTech). Candidates should have strong knowledge in quantitative techniques, good empirical research skills, and a deep interest in technology in general.

Applicants are expected to have a strong publication record in the general area of financial technology and distributed ledger technology, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in finance, and distributed ledger technology, cryptocurrencies and initial coin offerings, blockchain, robo-advising, entrepreneurial FinTech, digital service innovation, insuretech, paytech, and regulation of FinTech, among others. including research publications at premier venues within the area.

Candidates must have a strong scientific record of scholarly publications and engagement in the international research community. They should be able to establish, lead, conduct and collaborate in research projects. Research is expected to be anchored within the field of Information Systems relevant for our Master of Science in Information Systems with focus on FinTech Business Innovation. Experience with applying for research grants and external research funding is an advantage. 

The candidate for this position will be selected based on excellence and fit with the advertised position. In addition, candidates with practical experience within the FinTech domain will be prefered. Fluent oral and written communication skills in English is a prerequisite. Knowledge of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is desirable.

Each candidate will be evaluated according to the regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts. (No: Forskrift om ansettelse og opprykk i undervisnings- og forskerstilling) pursuant to the Norwegian Universities and University Colleges Act (No: Universitets- og høyskoleloven).
