Legal Counsel / Senior Advisor

Cefor is looking to recruit a motivated person to take part in developing the Nordic marine insurance market. The position has a broad scope of potential focus. In representing one of the world’s largest marine insurance markets, the right candidate will be able to influence the framework conditions within which the industry operates both in the Nordic region and globally. You will have a key role in facilitating continuous evolution of competitive Nordic marine insurance conditions. As secretary to several of our member forums, you will engage with industry experts on issues that will shape the future of our industry.

Main tasks:

·        Clause drafting and revision (cargo clauses, safety regulations, small craft clauses, and the Nordic Marine Insurance Plan)

·        Provide support to member forums

·        Manage projects and secure professional follow up of activities initiated by the forums and the Board

·        Respond to public consultations

·        Participate in the facilitation and development of relevant training for the membership

·        Represent the Association in external forums and meetings

·        Some travel is required

Qualifications:

·        Self-driven, structured, able to manage projects, and work independently and in groups with members to complete tasks within given deadlines

·        Knowledge of the legal system in one or more Nordic countries, maritime and/or marine insurance law will be useful in this role

·        Insight into the Nordic and global marine insurance market

·        Good communication skills, oral and written, in both English and Norwegian

·        Good cooperation and networking skills

·        Experience from maritime industry and/or insurance is an advantage
