Mechanical Engineer

Optoscale is on a steep growth trajectory and is seeking to expand our technical team by adding a Mechanical Engineer to develop groundbreaking products that are transforming the way data can create real change and improvement in the global aquaculture industry.

OptoScale has developed an industry-leading computer vision system that is used for, among others, estimating fish weight, health and lice on fish. The camera system is placed in a fish pen used for aquaculture, and typically measures 40 000 individual fish every single day. These measurements are sent to a webportal where our customers can extract value from their data. We are seeking to further develop our monitoring equipment to ensure valuable data are gathered for our customers, and this position will be focused on the equipment placed out at the fish farms.

Typical tasks:

• Product development of camera solutions for the fish farming industry
• Forming demand specifications, finding smart and reliable solutions, choice of materials and production methods
• Working out 3D models and drawings for new products or improvement of existing solutions
• Building and testing of prototypes
• Establish manuals and procedures for production, assembly, operation and fault finding of equipment
• Finding the right suppliers to lift our products
• Assembly, setup and calibration of cameras and surrounding equipment
• Field work related to product development and training of external personnel

Required Qualifications:

• Mechanical Engineer, qualified technician or similar
• Practical understanding, interest, and skills to work hands-on
• Over average skills in 3D CAD system, including 2D drawings and smaller simulations

In addition it would be positive if you have experience and skills in the following:

• Underwater systems design
• Surface modelling in CAD
• Electronics and mechatronics
• Worked in production environments
