The Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies invites applications for a 100% position as research assistant, to work up to 10 months on a project on genocide and mass atrocity prevention, starting approximately 1 March 2022.
The project “Mass Atrocity Responses” is a research, communication and networking project on minority protection and mass atrocity prevention, closely related to the fields of conflict studies, genocide studies, human rights and international humanitarian law. The project is led by Ellen E. Stensrud, senior researcher at the Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies.
The project will hire a research assistant who will work in assisting research projects, through mapping cases of atrocity risks and atrocity prevention and conducting literature reviews. Also, the research assistant will work on administrative tasks related to webinars, networking and dissemination. The geographic focus is on the global south, but the project also looks at international institutions.
The research assistant should have a keen interest in international relations, conflict resolution, atrocity prevention and similar topics, particularly in the global south.
Qualifications
- MA degree in social sciences or humanities (or other equivalent). We may also consider candidates with a BA degree, if they have particularly relevant work experience.
- Basic digital media skills, in order to contribute to maintenance of the project’s website, managing of digital meetings, publishing on social media etc.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Good collaborative ability, as well as the ability to work independently academically and administratively.
Salary
The salary for a full-time Research Assistant (vitenskapelig assistent) with an MA degree at the Norwegian Holocaust Center is NOK 475.400 per year.
