Nammo is one of the world's leading providers of specialty ammunition and propulsion systems for defense and space applications. Nammo Raufoss is the largest development and manufacturing hub in Nammo, with an R&D department of more than 125 highly skilled engineers who develop products and technology for all Nammo business units.
Nammo has in recent years grown significantly within the space market. We have operations in Norway, UK and Ireland for development and production of space propulsion systems as well as fluidic and mechanical components for in-space propulsion systems and launchers. Nammo Raufoss is involved in several large space projects, one example is the European launcher family VEGA. For VEGA, Nammo develops the next generation of Roll and Attitude Control System (RACS), based on green propellant (H2O2), including tank, thrusters, valves and tubing.
Nammo Raufoss AS has vacancies for Systems Engineers. In this role, you will be a part of the recently established Systems Engineering group organized within the R&D department. The group supports all technologies and products at Nammo Raufoss. An example of a possible first assignment is to participate in the development of a cluster of three monopropellant thrusters for VEGA RACS into a commercial flight unit, and following the product from a proof-of-concept design stage through development and eventual qualification and flight.
Main responsibilities and tasks:
- Develop propulsion systems designs that meet performance- and system flow down requirements and further follow the product through qualification and serial production
- Take lead within projects on all technical aspects, be the technical authority and have interdisciplinary overview
- Work systematically with requirements and specifications and derive subsystem technical specifications from high level requirements
- Prepare and present technical documentation, work with customers and suppliers in Norway and abroad.
Qualifications:
- MSc or PhD within physics, thermodynamics, mechanics, propulsion or similar
- Experience from space projects development life-cycle and ESA (European Space Agency) review processes, documentation structure and standards
- Other experience from development of engineering systems, for example within automotive-, offshore- and maritime industry
- Capable of understanding overall system complexity, interdisciplinary dependencies and interfaces
- Capable of translating requirement compliance into day-to-day implementation and verification work
- Familiar with technical specifications scope and structure and understand what it means to deliver a technical scope compliant with the given requirements
- INCOSE certification (or similar) in Systems Engineering is a plus
- Competence in programming software such as Python or Matlab is a plus
