Job description

As a Data Scientist at NOI, you will: 

  • Develop, implement, optimize, and evaluate ML and other statistical models of relevant biological processes for personalized cancer treatments, infectious disease, and other preventative and therapeutic treatments
  • Establish frameworks using techniques such as pretraining for integrating high-quality, proprietary pre-clinical and clinical datasets with noisy, public data to create well-calibrated prediction models
  • Evaluate results from pre-clinical and clinical-stage projects, and prepare reports and presentations describing appropriate methodologies and findings for colleagues and external collaborators
  • Facilitate communication and cross-pollination between the data science, infectious disease, and other teams at NOI

Your profile:

  • Located in Norway or Germany, or willing to relocate to one of them
  • A degree of higher education (or close to graduating) in data science or another a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Experience with exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, developing and testing machine learning models
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks, data analysis tools, and numerical tools (such as scikit-learn, xgboost/LightGBM, Tensorflow, Keras, numpy, pandas/polars, Matplotlib/seaborn/Plotly)
  • Proficiency or interest in learning Linux and common software management tools: git, cloud infrastructure, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (the working language of the company)
  • The ability to work individually and with others with a variety of scientific and technological backgrounds

Bonus:

  • Experience or familiarity with virology, immunology, epidemiology, or related fields
  • Experience with software engineering best practices such as code quality, version control and repository hygiene, code reviews, and unit testing
  • Experience with deep learning approaches such as RNNs, CNNs, GNNs, and transformers
  • Experience with explainable AI methods such as prototype learning and counterfactual reasoning
