Job description:
As a mechanical engineer you take an active role in project teams related to design, specification, production, follow-up and testing of various deck equipment. You will interact with clients, certifying bodies and suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality products according to specifications.
Essential responsibilities and duties:
- Responsible for design, specification, production follow-up and testing of deck equipment.
- Act as mechanical discipline lead and independently execute all related engineering activities.
- Responsible for technical documents, drawings and equipment manuals.
- Participate in mechanical completion, acceptance testing and follow up of installation.
- Prepare relevant documents for purchasing process
- Other tasks within the maritime engineering department.
- Travelling will be expected related to projects and sales meetings with clients
Education and experience:
- Minimum BSc within mechanical engineering
- Relevant experience may compensate for formal education
- Competence in hydraulic systems is a benefit
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience from the marine industry
Job knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Independently manage all relevant activities within engineering of mechanical systems
- Knowledge of relevant international standards.
- Contract and economic knowledge
- Experience with AutoCAD, 3D design, and project planning is an advantage
- Strong communication skills in English, spoken and written.
- Practical and solution minded with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive, enterprising and accountable attitude
- Client-oriented and collaborative- minded internally and externally to achieve best results
The position is located in Bergen. Local connection will be preferred.
