The department is a competence department that consists of people within rock mechanics, geopressure, and cased hole logging. Geopressure personnel are located in 4 cities; Harstad, Stjørdal, Bergen, and Stavanger. The Rocks and Pressure unit, one of our main task owners, provides pore pressure and wellbore stability plots and related risk assessments for planning phase of all development wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. 

Roles and responsibilities:
  • The overall objective of the Geopressure Geologist function is to ascertain that pore pressure and wellbore stability deliveries in all well projects is performed in a correct, safe and cost-efficient way, in accordance with acts, regulations, and internal requirements and best practice routines. 
  • The main delivery is the pore pressure and wellbore stability plot (PP/WBS) in the planning phase. 
  • Geopressure geologists also contribute to overburden evaluations, depleted reservoir challenges and drillability studies. 

Responsibility: 
  • Work in teams with other disciplines 
  • Participate in the well construction process 
  • Prediction and evaluation of pore pressure, stress and wellbore stability 
  • Implement relevant experiences from reference wells 
  • Contribute to risk assessments with relevant PP/WBS input 
  • Prepare pre risk chart in Gravitas 
  • Give input to Data Acquisition Program 
  • Update the PP/WBS model in Predict with relevant experiences and data 
  • Participate in PP/WBS relevant studies and overburden evaluations 

Qualifications and experience: 
  • Extensive operational- and subsurface understanding
  • Good communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Able to work independently, systematically and structured 
  • Data science capabilities an advantage.
