Do you want to contribute to a more sustainable future? TOMRA is now looking for a communications manager who will help build brand and reputation.

Like many innovative ventures, TOMRA was founded in a garage. This garage wasn’t in Palo Alto, though, it was in Vollen, Norway. 50 years later, TOMRA Collection is a world-leading technology company working to expand the circular economy. As the largest provider of reverse vending machines (panteautomater) on the planet, we strive to reduce society's reliance on raw materials by enabling drink bottles, cans, and other packaging to be continually recycled in a closed loop. Every year, TOMRA Collection captures more than 40 billion drink containers across 60 global markets, ensuring that they don't end up in our streets, oceans, or landfills. That might sound like a lot, but it’s actually less than 3% of what’s sold annually! Naturally, we’ve got our sights set on the remaining 97% and we need your help to get it. How’s that for a growth mindset? Our success is measured by our impact. If that’s a statement that resonates with you, then you’ve come to the right place.

Main tasks and responsibilities as Communication Manager

Join our Brand, Marketing and Communication team at the global headquarters in Asker to create a more sustainable future by taking an important role in building TOMRA’s brand and reputation. We are looking for a competent communicator with a diversified skill set that will help develop and spread our unique message.

As our new Communication Manager, you will develop communication strategies in cooperation with the communication team, and help drive our PR, corporate communication, and public affairs work throughout TOMRA’s worldwide markets. This includes supporting new and emerging markets with PR and external communication. You will develop thought leadership and other content across markets, also with agency support.

You will cover the roles of journalist, editor and media advisor and trainer for TOMRA's executives, directors, and other members of the company. That includes producing online, print and video content, and developing digital communication channels for TOMRA Collection – from social media to the corporate website and intranet.

You will be part of an international team with committed employees and that values new perspectives. Our working language is English. We work together, succeed together, and help each other during hectic periods.

Personal skills and experience

To thrive as a Communication Manager at TOMRA, we believe you have a great desire to make a difference. You are motivated to work for a company which is striving every day to make the world a better place and for a more sustainable future.

From previous work, you have experience from positions within communication/journalism/marketing. You have a well-written presentation, can tell engaging stories in English, influence, and adapt communication messages to different stakeholders, markets, and channels. You have wide experience with various digital platforms and have an interest in keeping updated with the latest digital tools. You should have both good analytical skills and creativity. Relationships to different stakeholders are important to you, and you have excellent people skills. We hope to find an independent person who also works well in cooperation with others. We also believe you have:

  • Fluent spoken and written English, Norwegian also helpful
  • Experience in issues management and crisis communication is an advantage
  • International experience and cultural understanding
  • Experience in corporate communication and executive profiling
  • Experience with public affairs is an advantage
  • Excellent time management and project prioritization skills

At TOMRA, you will have a job with a purpose: A great opportunity to work for a more sustainable future for the generations to come. You will be working dynamic and with challenging tasks within a growing, market-leading international company. You'll have the opportunity for further training, build your career, and get personal development.

We offer competitive conditions and flexible working days, social benefits and excellent facilities that include a modern gym, free parking and our own cafeteria serving a healthy and varied lunch menu. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and join our growing community of thinkers and doers in tackling this challenge, we look forward to hearing from you.
