In Ducky, we’re on a journey to create a sustainable humanity.

There is less than a decade left in which to slash global carbon emissions to avoid catastrophic warming, and we’re not moving fast enough. We believe that in order to reduce climate emissions drastically over the next few years, it’s got to start with us. It’s not the climate that needs fixing. It’s you and I.

Ducky combines established behavioral science, fun and technology to mobilize individuals and organizations to take direct action towards reducing climate emissions – every single day. We deliver a unique suite of products ranging from municipalities wanting to track their citizens’ footprints via our Ducky Public interactive map, to consumer companies wanting to share climate data with their customers via our Ducky Data APIs, and schools and companies to engage in behavior-changing activities via our Ducky Championships platform.

When we started Ducky in 2014 we wanted an organisational structure that in itself impacts the world positively. A model that supports the innovation and creation of real, continuous change favoring a sustainable planet, by a highly committed group of people guided by the purpose of the company, and not a single individual. We have been growing rapidly since our incorporation, and today we are a team of 31 creative and collaborative people covering 15 nationalities. We’re on a mission to encourage and empower society to reduce carbon emissions, and we are just getting started.

In the Ducky Championship team, we are developing a gamified realtime PWA using React, where users challenge each other to live more sustainably for a two to three week period. The product is localized to multiple languages and data sources, to provide a global product to our partners and customers.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for a motivated web developer for our Championship product. You are flexible, creative and enjoy working in an agile environment. You should have experience in the JavaScript ecosystem, as well as web development in general. We’re looking for someone who loves collaboration, especially between development and design, where your role can fluctuate from leader to follower on an almost daily basis. We are constantly trying to improve, so we are very open to any new ideas or technologies that make the product better, and our lives easier.

Specific experience or interest:

• CSS, HTML and JavaScript
• PWAs in React or other frameworks
• TypeScript
• Node.js
• Native mobile development
• Automated testing and QA
• Cloud providers (we use GCP) and architecture
• CI/CD workflows and git, github, npm, etc.

Examples of what you could be involved in as a software developer:

• Maintain and run our Championship PWA and surrounding tools and infrastructure
• Constantly improve the platform through the use of new technologies and tools
• Scale and localize the platform to new countries
• Work with design and business to improve the value and impact of our platform
• Develop your skills together with the Software Development Expert group
