Software Production Engineer - Ship Performance Monitoring

Due to increasing demand, both for updates to existing performance monitoring systems and for new systems, we are searching for a candidate to work with the configuration of our systems - particularly in the customisation of the bespoke portion of our software.

We require a person with solid programming skills and, ideally, some knowledge of marine/propulsion technology (or a willingness to learn).

We are looking for someone:

• With good core programming skills; preferably in Delphi/Pascal, or in C/C++/Java etc. (Previous experience of working in multi-programmer projects would be an advantage.)
• With the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
•  Able to work independently and to manage their own time effectively.
• With the initiative to supplement the information provided.
• Fluent in written/spoken English: Proficiency in Norwegian is preferred.
• Educated to degree level in Computer Science, or a related field (or with equivalent documented experience).

Our customers are shipyards and ship-owners worldwide, and the successful candidate should be able to liaise with them, in cooperation with our local agent network.

The work will typically involve:

• Creation of project-specific software and configuration data to enhance/replace our existing systems.
• 2nd line support of our service/aftersales department on software-related problems.
• Remote maintenance of installed systems
• Checking/testing of system configurations.
• Some phone/email contact with customers to resolve technical issues.
