Oda is looking for a legal professional for the role as Privacy Counsel to be located in our head office in Nydalen, Oslo. The role is part of Oda’s Privacy Team, situated in the Technology Department, but you'll work cross functionally with several other teams throughout the organization. As a Privacy Counsel, you will have an especially strong connection to our in-house product and technology team of 200+ people and ambitious plans to grow, and you will serve an important role towards building our privacy organization, currently lead by the Privacy Team but with dedicated personnel from each department in the Oda organization.

Oda’s Privacy Team was established just recently, and will consist of a mix of both engineers, project managers and legal. You will take part in building and shaping how this team will be set up going forward to best serve an organization that is fast moving and growing rapidly both in Norway and internationally.

What you'll do

• Take part in building and shaping the Privacy Team and the rest of our privacy organization
• Take part in building a scalable privacy program for Oda
• Assist Oda in monitoring and ensuring privacy compliance
• Inform and advise on Oda’s data protection obligations
• Provide advice regarding data protection impact assessments
• Provide legal advice on matters regarding Oda’s day-to-day activities
• Identify need, create and implement compliance training and awareness programs for specific departments

To be successful, we believe you...

• Have a master’s degree in Law with strong academical results
• Have minimum 2 years relevant legal experience within privacy law (in-house legal department, private law firm or relevant authorities) preferably working with product and technical aspects of privacy
• Have knowledge and hands-on experience with data protection regulation and compliance
• Have good communications and presentation skills, both oral and written, fluency in English language
• Are curious, and eager to ask questions, discuss and learn about our products, technology and company activities
• Curious, and eager to be part of building a scalable privacy team
• Have a willingness and ability to achieve privacy compliance in a constructive and solution oriented way -- i.e. being an enabling partner with teams and people rather than assuming a conservative control function
• Are organized, thorough and can work independently and effectively under pressure
• Have good IT skills

The following will probably be helpful

• Experience working with legal compliance (guidelines, frameworks, training, monitoring)
• Previous experience working as a Privacy Counsel or similar roles is an advantage
• Passion and interest in data privacy
• Practical and commercial mindset, and the ability to apply a risk-based approach to all legal work.
• Knowledge of cyber security is an advantage
