Senior R&D Manager

We are looking for a Senior R&D manager to manage the engineering product teams for our content creation applications. This is a key position within the R&D organization that ensures that the teams are working effectively and building an efficient team that fosters innovation while delivering products on schedule and within cost. It will be critical to have a strong ability to build teams that can efficiently assign and move resources to and between products while also ensuring that we recruit people to best achieve our goals as we grow. A strong product and commercial focus are both essential. 

Recommended Background 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; MBA would be considered beneficial.
• 5+ years’ experience in a Senior Software Engineering position. 
• 5+ years’ experience in a People Management position. 
• Product focus with a drive to generate innovation and products that do more than expected.  
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and allocate resources in a dynamic environment to achieve both tactical and strategic priorities.  
• Successful track record of transforming, defining, and executing strategic and innovative initiatives which will have an impact on the company. Being able to make decisions that might change the status-quo and then execute them is essential. 
• Technically relevant background in software development, with experience in media products considered advantageous. 
• Understanding and experience of products that are delivered on-premise and in the cloud. 
• Must have experience in successfully leading diverse software engineering teams. 
• Outstanding communication skills – both verbal and written. 
• Strong project management skills and attention to detail.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Lead a diverse cross-functional group of Engineers. 
• Coach and mentor, form processes, and push the team to execution excellence. 
• Recruit and hire new talent to further the development of the teams. 
• Accountable for reaching certain standards, deadlines, and goals. 
• Bring a positive and innovative attitude by keeping up with the latest trends and technology within in the industry. 
• Build and maintain an efficient and effective team within budget. 
• Contribute to all aspects of software development life cycle with an emphasis on delivering high quality and high-performance cutting-edge technology within the teams. 
• Oversee the performance quality control checks on all systems and products. 
• Work in close collaboration with the Product Management organization to and define the product roadmap.
