Do you want to lead and oversee the daily Vaccibody laboratory research operations for our amazing scientists? 


We are seeking Head of laboratory facilities and EHS who will be heading a team of 2-3 direct reports (lab manager and technical staff) and will have the overall responsibility in leading and overseeing our laboratory facilities housing 50-60 scientists in Vaccibody’s new and modern laboratory in Oslo Science Park (Forskningsparken). The successful candidate will be responsible for EHS (environment, health and safety) and with its team ensure compliance with current safety requirements, develop and maintain appropriate control and quality assurance procedures, as well as coordinate the team to manage laboratory protocols for safe use of biological/chemical materials and instruments.

 

As Head of laboratory facilities and EHS, you are responsible for facilities, equipment, supplies, reagents, and ensuring that quality systems are performed compliant with relevant guidelines, EHS standards and company policies enabling execution of industry level research in the Vaccibody laboratories. A minimum of 3-5 years experience from industry in lab management is required.

 

Together with the lab management team, responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure that lab members are trained and comply with laboratory guidelines, regulations, including environment, health, and safety (EHS) policies
  • Maintain a safe and healthy workplace for every employee
  • Establish and revise laboratory policies and procedures
  • Ensure systems and coordinate laboratory team to enable ordering and reception of consumables, reagents, and chemicals and instruments. Ensure smooth running of the Vaccibody laboratory by keeping appropriate levels of supplies at all times and that orders and reagents/chemical substances are mapped
  • Ensure systems and coordinate team for logistic functions, e.g. shipment and receipt of samples
  • Ensure systems and coordinate team to set up, qualify and maintain instrumentation in the lab; including instrument and equipment life cycle asset management
  • Ensure systems and coordinate team to maintaining existing quality system, including SOP/work instructions (WIN), revision and training for onboarding
  • Ensure that the laboratories are clean and compliant with relevant guidelines and company policies
  • Organize and maintain freezer inventory logs
  • Monitor and maintain compressed gas and liquid nitrogen stocks
  • Responsible for continuous improvement and implementation of best-practice lab management procedures
  • Maintain chemical inventory, SDS binder, waste manifest records, safety training log, monthly safety inspections, and other EHS related tasks.
  • Perform related duties as assigned


Key qualifications

  • Master degree in biotechnology, biology, chemistry or relevant scientific discipline
  • 3-5 years experience with managing laboratories from industry or relevant experience with EHS experience
  • 5-10 years work experience from a lab environment with hands-on experience with molecular biology, cell biology or biochemical techniques is required
  • Completed EHS course and experience from managing/participating in safety programs is preferred
  • English fluency is required
