On a global scale, a rapidly growing population is consuming more fish than ever before.This trend is due to the growth and development of sustainable land-based aquaculture, which causes less impact on the environment and builds a better and greener economy. Land-based aquaculture is a fast growing industry where demand for products and services are expected to increase significantly over the years to come. Our owners, Pure Salmon LTD aim to produce as much as 260 000 tons of Atlantic salmon a year. The group has already invested in large land-based fish farms in the US, Poland, France and Japan, and they also have a number of other extensive land-based farming projects in the making, including in China and South Africa. The group focuses on sustainable land-based salmon farming, produced as close as possible to where the consumers live. Beside this, Pure Salmon Kaldnes is at the moment building SalMar Tjuin, the largest landbased fish-farm in the world and Salten Smolt.

Your key working tasks and contributions:   

The Field Engineer will act as the operational, on-site extension of the project manager charged with resolving ongoing issues at source and coordinating with all engineering disciplines within Pure Salmon Kaldnes. This position is a great platform for candidates with ambition to become highly qualified future Project Managers in Pure Salmon Kaldnes. Key responsibilities for the Field Engineer position include:
 

  • Proactively manage site activities and implement Pure Salmon Kaldnes engineering designs in line with the project schedule
  • Maintain delivery checklists and control on site milestones
  • Support PM with on site resource loading
  • Communicate with clients and be available to explain complex issues
  • Diagnose and resolve on site issues
  • Resolve malfunctions or other crises when they arise on site
  • Oversee repairs and technical improvements
  • Liase with sub contracters and ensure progress in line with the project schedule
  • Support Inspection, testing and commissioning of systems in line with delivery schedule
  • Ensure proper maintenance of onsite equipment
  • Supervise and direct onsite personnel in line with HSEQ standards
  • Support project manager with document control
  • Draft and submit reports on behalf of project manager

The field engineer will be required to travel to sites around the world at short notice and remain on site for as long as the situation demands. Expected travel is up to 24 weeks a year. Compensation is given accordingly to company guidelines. The position reports to Project Manager.

Competence requirements: 

  • Relevant higher education within the field of construction or electrical/mechanical engineering (fagbrev/ BSc)
  • Language skills; Nordic and English (Oral and written) 

Meritorious competence/ experience:  

  • 2+ years of service engineering/commissioning experience
  • Experience of software tools such as AutoCAD/Revit/Navisworks
  • Experience of reviewing engineering documents/drawings/3D models
  • HSEQ qualifications are desired but not mandatory
