We are looking for you who are passionate about sustainability and travel. Just like us you know that a heart for both is more than just possible, it is an exciting opportunity! You believe that travel can be a force for good both for people and our planet. You recognize that our industry has ample prospects right now to make changes for the better after the Covid-19 reset.

We are looking for someone to join our team and work actively and closely with the management in preparing strategy, direction, activities, and culture that address sustainability issues while aligning with and supporting business goals. Our objective is to secure sustainable travel solutions and provide customers with expertise on the same.

Your day will be filled with research and recommendations, sharing your competencies with our management and staff, being part of preparing documentations, and establishing a frame, fundament and establishing a holistic approach to sustainability upon which KILROY will continue to grow.

 Requirements

We are looking for a post-graduate or equivalent available for a (part- or) full-time position or consultancy for a sustainability project until June 2022, with the possibility of extension. Ideally, you will have graduated in an environmental, humanities or research-based degree subject. You may already have work experience from a similar role. Knowledge of, and interest in, the travel industry is an advantage. You know your stuff, but you’re not necessarily a heavyweight in this field (yet!).

  • Project experience
  • Knowledge about international objectives and commitments within sustainability
  • Ability to engage and involve colleagues
  • Communicate and coordinate dialogue with external parties and all stakeholders
  • Commercial and analytical mindset – understand business development
  • Experience in reporting and applying tools related to sustainability operations or certifications is an advantage (ie. Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Criteria, ISO14001, Travelife, Miljøfyrtårn)
  • Fluency in English is a must. Scandinavian is a plus.

Examples of tasks and responsibilities

In close cooperation with key stakeholders, the Sustainability Coordinator will lead the sustainability transition project in the company which includes tasks such as:

  • Elaborate and forge our policies within corporate social responsibility into key initiatives and activities internally
  • Conduct research across various sources and prepare reports for policy development on a variety of sustainability topics, both long- and short term
  • Presents findings, recommendations and relevant initiatives for policies and activities to the management
  • Prepare and coordinate relevant documentation and policies for sustainability compliance as well as coordinate the implementation of these
  • Prepare internal and external communication material on policies, standards and guidelines that are useful, usable, and used for the different audiences (departments and customers)
  • Plan, prepare and take initiative for staff engagement and competence development within sustainability and travel through education and training activities for all colleagues based on their role
  • Organize and conduct presentations and response to inquiries from staff (and sometimes customers) related to sustainability. Be the main contact for sustainability questions, comments, or concerns from management
  • Develop internal green policies and initiatives that emphasize the proper use of environmental resources with a focus on cost savings and climate change advocacy
  • Put KILROY on the map as a credible player in sustainable travel both for our staff, our partners and our customers
  • Identify and coordinate sustainability certification opportunities

What we offer

An independent role with the opportunity to influence important and central aspects of the KILROY way forward. You will join our Norwegian administration in Oslo (our shop in Kirkegata and MESH office community in Tordenskioldsgate) and work closely with our management, experienced sales teams, as well as departments internationally in Copenhagen and across the company group. We offer flexibility and activity-based work in young, social and vibrant surroundings. Salary in accordance with agreement and favorable travel opportunities (as the world re-opens!).
