Working tasks / responisibilities

The responsibilities of the Range/Launch Control Officer or Range Safety Officer will be as a team member in a growing department that are involved in operational activities in Missile, Ballistic Rocket and Orbital launches. Andøya Space will be looking for a range of qualifications from applicants in the field of Launch Operations. There will be additional tasks for individuals outside operational activities such as project management support, development, and other administrative tasks. We have a total of 4 new positions.

 The main tasks are: 

Launch Control Officer operational activities such as:

• Direct the countdown in an operation
• Team leader for the entire crew involved in the operation
• Responsible to deliver the successful launch of the vehicle in question to the customer
•  Conduct Pre and Post flight checks / reviews

Safety Officer operational activities such as:

• Responsible for the joint effort of several surveillance resources to create the complete situational awareness needed to conduct a safe operation
• Assess flight safety related conditions against predefined limits. This includes clearance of hazard areas at sea, in the air and at close range, as well as evaluating weather conditions and the status of safety critical infrastructure in use
• Provide the Launch Control Officer with a Final Go for launch regarding Safety

Administrative tasks:

• Support Mission planning
• Participate in simulator training
• Support the Division in other administrative tasks 

Qualifications - education

• We are seeking an applicant with a degree in a relevant discipline and/or with extensive experience and knowledge from operative functions within aviation, space or search and rescue.
• Commercial or national security considerations may apply to some operations; it is therefore essential that the applicant may gain a Norwegian security clearance.
• In addition, good technical, interpersonal and communication skills and being proficient in English oral and writing.
• Applicants must have a Class B driver’s license.
