Our market potential grows every day, as a rising number of customers look to CCS and our company to solve their emissions challenges. Aker Carbon Capture’ project portfolio ranges from concept studies to large EPC (engineering, procurement and construction). We have now more than a dozen ongoing projects in various phases of development and we are ready for our biggest challenge yet: delivering the carbon capture plant at the Norcem cement plant in Brevik, Norway. This will be the world's first CO2-capture facility at a cement plant.
In the next few years ACC will deliver several full- scale CCS-units, as well as operate the Mobile Test Unit (MTU) on various flue gases and sites.
The MTU is a small-scale CO2 capture plant comprising all key elements found in a commercial carbon capture plant. Aker Carbon Capture has gained extensive operational experience during long-term testing on real flue gases worldwide. The MTU has been operated for more than 30 000 hours in USA, Scotland, Sweden and at various locations in Norway.
The Role
As our new Operation Engineer you will have a unique opportunity to take active part in the development of a green industry and to have a very independent position with a high degree of personal responsibility and a variety of work tasks, both practical and desk-work. Together we will standardization and general effective execution of CCUS projects in Aker Carbon Capture. The job will have substantial on-site work (rotation) during test campaigns, and you will be stationed abroad for periods of time.
You will:
- Have shared site responsibility during operation and maintenance of the MTU including planning and performing transportation, hook-up, commissioning and decommissioning at various sites worldwide
- Work with all aspects of HSSE&Q related to the MTU
- Maintain and develop the MTU control system
- Take lead in some maintenance and modification projects on the MTU
- Contribute to operational and maintenance documents in CCUS projects, studies and tendering in Aker Carbon Capture

We think these qualifications will help you grow and thrive as our Operation Engineer:
- Technical education, preferably a combination of
- Certificate of apprenticeship (fagbrev) in chemical, process, or mechanical direction
- B.Sc or M.Sc in process, chemical or mechanical engineering
- Relevant work experience from similar or related roles may be considered in lieu of education
- Multidisciplinary understanding (mechanical, electro, instrument, process)
- Knowledge of Control Systems
- Experience with commissioning and start-up
- Operational experienced, preferably from land-based industry
- Knowledge of HSSE systems and with a practical HSSE mindset
