Full-time position as research technician in cancer immunotherapy at Oslo University Hospital

A full-time position as research technician in cancer immunotherapy is available for 2 years from November 1st 2021, in the research group of Dr. Jon Amund Kyte at Department of Cancer Immunology, Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo University Hospital (OUS) Radiumhospitalet. OUS is Norway’s largest hospital and medical research institution, and is accredited as Comprehensive Cancer Center by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes. OUS Radiumhospitalet is a dedicated cancer center with a particularly strong research profile in cancer immunotherapy. We have a proven record in bringing novel immunotherapy ideas from preclinical development into clinical studies.

Job description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated research technician for working on our projects for development of personalised cancer immunotherapy. Our group develops innovative cell therapy and conducts clinical trials exploring novel concepts for use of immune checkpoint inhibitors. Based on unique material from patients in our clinical trials, we investigate biomarkers of response, mechanisms for tumor escape and novel therapeutic targets. A variety of advanced cellular/molecular immunology technologies and animal models are used, including xenograft models, CRISPR-Cas9, Nanostring, Hyperion, Luminex, CyTOF, 24-color-flow cytometry, viral transduction and single cell sequencing.

The technician will work in team with other members of the Kyte group at the Dept. of Cancer Immunology. The Kyte group has 12 members with research background in immunology and medicine. Dr. Kyte is also Head of the Department for Experimental Cancer Treatment, where the clinical trials are conducted. 

Position requirements:

We are looking for a candidate that is highly motivated and with a strong and relevant research background. Great emphasis will be placed on personal aptitude and on the ability to collaborate.

The candidate should have experience in cell culture, immune assays, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology and animal work, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills (English). The ideal candidate will also have experience in biobanking and data analysis, and robust practical skills in immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, CyTOF, molecular cloning , viral transduction of T cells, RNA/DNA/Protein isolation and preparation of cells from tissue.
