About the role

CEPI is looking for a Senior Compliance Manager to join the Governance Risk and Compliance team. To support the growth of CEPI, this candidate must possess a strong passion for accountability, setting high standards, and driving results through constant focus on improving existing and future state operations, systems, and processes. The ideal candidate will be able to create long-term plans, but have tactical skills to drive day-to-day implementation.

We are looking for someone who can navigate a large set of requirements from our investors and develop and implement related compliance actions. This position requires partnering with investor relations, policy, compliance, legal, finance operations, HR and R&D teams on proposed actions, and coordinating across multiple teams using technology to implement processes and policies to effectuate those actions. There is a significant project management component to this role.

You must have strong prior work experience in a professional setting, a positive attitude, and strong organisational skills. The ability to effectively communicate is essential, both verbally and in writing. The role will require that you be self-motivated to learn the operations of CEPI and will involve both independent and teamwork in a fast-paced environment that is continuously changing. You also need great judgment, a sense of humor, and a desire to learn and be curious.

Responsibilities

  • Program manage initiatives and projects that require policy related considerations to ensure processes are well suited to appropriate adherence to laws, regulations and investor requirements 
  • Assists in the identification and creation of new policies and controls and ongoing audits of controls
  • Leads in the compilation of information, drafting of clear/specific policy and documentation required for internal and external monitoring and auditing purposes
  • Performs examinations of program functions and system procedures, tracks such examinations, issues reports of findings and provides systemic follow up to identified issues and findings.
  • Assists with compliance projects, audits, trainings, and investigations as necessary while partnering closely with the Governance Risk and Compliance team.
  • Carry out risk analysis on policy compliance, discover areas of potential compliance risk and vulnerability, and create and implement solutions to eliminate the potential risks
  • Be informed of current legislation and enforcement issues relevant to CEPIs remits, as well as compliance best practices
  • Work closely with others in related departments for effective investigation, resolution, reporting, and remediation of compliance issues
  • Prepare reports for management on activities relevant for the position

Education, Experience and Competence

  • Essential: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Legal, Accounting, or Finance, or in a related field. 
  • Essential: Minimum 3-5 years compliance or related work experience
  • Essential: Proficient in MS Office and comfortable with applying new IT tools across tasks.
  • Experience interacting directly with stakeholders and senior management 
  • Experience with compliance work, including researching, analysing and synthesizing laws and regulations
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adjust to changes quickly while meeting deadlines
  • Great organisational skills with the ability to follow through and attention to detail
  • Prior experience with project management and experience working in matrixed organisations 
  • Experience and understanding of global health / life sciences R&D
  • Proactive and can-do attitude, takes accountability for delivery
  • High degree of integrity and confidentiality
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills.
  • Ability to adapt and work within a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment.

Travel and Location Requirements

  • Position can be based in London (UK) or Oslo (Norway).
  • Travel maybe required to other CEPI offices as assigned.
