About the role

CEPI is looking for an Internal Audit Manager to join the Governance Risk and Compliance team. The Governance Risk and Compliance team helps protect the integrity of CEPI as well as the reputation of the organisation. The Internal Audit function is one of the functions within the GRC team. We provide assurance to Management and the Board over the activities of the organisation, funds we manage, and the design of business processes we depend on. To support the growth of CEPI, this candidate must possess a strong passion for accountability, setting high standards, and driving results through a constant focus on improving existing and future operations, systems, and processes. 

We are looking for someone who can manage and execute CEPIs internal and partner assurance reviews while support other key GRC team activities. There is a significant project management component to this role.

You must have strong prior work experience in a professional setting, a positive attitude, and strong organizational skills. The ability to effectively communicate is essential, both verbally and in writing. The role will require that you be self-motivated to learn the operations of CEPI and will involve both independent and teamwork in a fast-paced environment that is continuously changing. You also need great judgment, a sense of humor, and a desire to learn and be curious.

Responsibilities

  • The key responsibility associated with the role is to support in the execution of the annual internal audit plan by defining and managing a set of audit activities:
  • Develop and manage the annual internal audit plan, with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Calibrate findings to CEPIs risk appetite, translate findings into recommendations and improvement activities 
  • Evaluate the results of audits to consolidate findings, analyse implications from the findings for CEPIs policies and risk appetite, make recommendations for improvement, and engage with relevant stakeholders across the organisation to influence change
  • Proactively engage with department heads or functional leads to share assurance lessons learned and ensure awareness of audit and assurance value and resources
  • Manage the outsourced service provider to ensure that audits are conducted at a high level of quality, and in line with our expectations
  • Act as the lead of internal assurance projects, but support and manage audit and assurance activities of CEPIs partners, which focuses on the partners CEPI grants awards to 
  • Work closely with others in related departments for effective investigation, resolution, reporting, and remediation of issues
  • Prepare reports for management on activities relevant for the position

Education, Experience and Competence

  • Essential: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Legal, Accounting, or Finance, or in a related field. 
  • Essential: Minimum 3-5 years internal audit or related work experience
  • Essential: Proficient in MS Office and comfortable with applying new IT tools across tasks.
  • Experience interacting directly with stakeholders and senior management 
  • Experience with internal audit work, including ability to learn quickly and adapt to change in processes and organisation
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adjust to changes quickly while meeting deadlines
  • Great organisational skills with the ability to follow through and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate discretion and judgment in decisions concerning the sharing of sensitive information, and experience working in matrixed organisations 
  • Experience and understanding of global health / life sciences R&D.
  • Proactive and can-do attitude, takes accountability for delivery.
  • High degree of integrity, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills.
  • Ability to adapt and work within a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment

Travel and Location Requirements

  • Position can be based in London (UK) or Oslo (Norway).
  • Travel maybe required to other CEPI offices as assigned.
