Category Manager

As Category Manager you are responsible for designing and procuring the key ingredient of our customer offer - our product range. As responsible merchant you will assume overall responsibility for your categories, be it on range, quality, availability or price. Doing so you will have the chance to collaborate with a highly motivated and fun team across all functions. 

What you’ll do

• Manage assortment of defined categories with data and a performance driven mindset, dig into customer insights and lead the categories with data
• Conduct analysis and make strategic recommendations for improvement of overall commercial strategy
• Establish connections and negotiate attractive agreements with vendors to meet ambitious gross margin targets and other KPIs
• Analyze performance of and cooperation with vendors in order to develop long-term partnerships with a selected group of suppliers that are capable of providing high quality products and services at competitive costs and with strong availability
• Scout new competing suppliers and meet new potential suppliers for initial discussions
• Develop new business concepts around our assortment, together with the Growth and Operations teams
• Understand the changing value chains to leverage unique opportunities in online retail
• Cooperate with stakeholders for securing an optimal assortment and supplier network to exceed customer expectations
• Cooperate with the replenishment team in order to manage product flows and liaise with Quality and Compliance to secure a well-trusted and high-quality supplier network.

Who you are

• Just graduated or have 2-5 years of relevant experience within sourcing/buying and category management
• Eager to learn and develop within the Commercial field
• Experience from online business is seen as an advantage, but not a necessity
• Strong negotiation and partner management skills, even in challenging situations
• Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success
• Critical thinker with proven problem-solving skills and comfortable managing risk
• Good communication, interpersonal and networking skills
• Savvy with IT systems and confident using software and analytical tools
• An enthusiastic team player with ability to excite our partners to support our growth
• Master or Bachelor in Business Administration, Food or similar relevant field
