Job Description

This is a 12 month position to cover maternity leave.

Reporting to European HR Director, you will support the business as a strategic business partner across all business categories providing pro-active HR expertise. You will lead the Norwegian HR Team and together provide leadership and problem-solving to employees and managers while advancing business goals and strengthening the culture and values at Microchip. Work collaboratively with managers to provide best practice and innovative HR-solutions focused on driving the success of their core areas (including employee relations, people decisions, talent acquisition, organizational development, compensation, retention, and HR programs and services).

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the Norwegian HR Team, meeting regularly to review goals and objectives.
  • Provide pragmatic and commercially focused HR solutions, employee relations advice and a day-to-day operational HR service and administration that is legally compliant, cost effective, consistent, and supportive of core business goals.
  • Maintains employee records in Workday; prepares metrics on both a recurring and non-recurring nature.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and management of HR policies and procedures and supports management and employees on company policy queries.
  • Collaborates with the European Human Resources Managers, and local Managers, in driving and supporting on resources requests.
  • Facilitation of the selection process, using competency- based interviews, and assessment tools where appropriate. Monitor the effectiveness of all recruitment activity.
  • Raise new employee requisitions within the Talent Management Suite system and track their progress through the system. Regular monitoring of the database to enable timely progression of suitable candidates with the respective Line Manager.
  • Prepares and delivers offers in line with Company reward strategy, and market data provided by the Compensation and Benefits team.
  • Implement and support a Graduate Program for Norway, as a means of developing new talent to meet the future needs of the organization.
  • Work with HR Managers, Training Specialists and Line Managers on Succession Planning process.
  • Responsibility for issuing all new hire documentation, ensuring that employee contracts are updated and compliant with the prevailing legislation in Norway.
  • Assist with implementing and driving the Microchip culture and guiding values across the site.
  • Any other project work as required by the European HR Director.

Job Requirements 
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and oral.
  • Preferred candidate will have 5 years + HR related experience.
  • Currently studying or qualified HR/Business degree (CIPD)
  • Strong coaching, collaboration & execution capabilities
  • Proven track record of previous in-house recruitment experience. 
  • Thorough knowledge of employment legislation for Norway and willingness to become conversant with relevant legislation in other European regions.
  • Proven track record of dealing with employee relations cases, including disciplinary and grievances. 
  • Previous experience of working in a large multinational organization with operations across Europe.
  • Familiarity with Workday or similar HRIS in addition to Microsoft office packages, including a high level of expertise in Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Experience of multi-tasking and self- managing your time effectively to provide best practice HR advice and support.
