Freyr AS is hiring an Environmental Sustainability Manager
We will build at least 4 battery cell factories of increasing size in Mo i Rana as a significant contribution to the transition to a green economy. Without batteries there can be no real change in the global energy system, the key to limiting global warming. These factories are a significant contribution to a more sustainable future.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Environmental Sustainability Manager will play a critical role in realizing FREYR's goal of delivering sustainable battery cells and accelerating decarbonization of the world’s energy systems. The Environmental Sustainability Manager will establish environmental sustainability goals, lead accounting, analysis and reporting of environmental metrics, identify environmental footprint reduction projects, and monitor and report on FREYR's sustainability accomplishments to internal and external stakeholders.

Tasks:

• Lead initiatives on energy; carbon management; greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory; science based targets; transportation; water; waste; and renewable energy
• Manage measurement, calculation, and accounting of sustainability metrics including greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Scope 1, 2, & 3), energy, water, and waste
• Support development of sustainability KPIs, including SBTi, and support development of approach for Scope 3 Value Chain emissions accounting
• Work with procurement, logistics and manufacturing operations teams to build effective environmental data management, tracking, analysis and reporting processes
• Support internal and external sustainability certification, audit and compliance processes, including sustainability requests (surveys, evaluations, questionnaires, scorecards and regulatory submissions) from customers, suppliers and relevant stakeholders
• Support the completion of various questionnaires and disclosures including potentially CDP, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), TCFD, Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), and others
• Analyze data including energy, water, and waste
• Monitor progress, manage risks, resolve issues, and regularly report to relevant stakeholders
• Maintain and build relationships internally and externally with key stakeholders
• Prepare proposals and presentations, and support communications initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Environmental Management, Data Science, or a similarly technical and engineering-minded field preferred
• At least 5 years' experience developing processes and preparing environmental calculations that align with the leading ESG frameworks including World Business Council for Sustainable Development guidelines on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting Protocol, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
• Experience developing environmental data collection systems, tools, databases, models and/or software
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI
• Proficiency in English required

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Advanced degree in Environmental Management, Data Science, or a similarly technical and engineering-minded field preferred.
• Experience contributing to Corporate ESG Reports.
• Experience designing Scope 3 emissions approach for Value Chain Accounting
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability requirements, including EU Taxonomy
