The team

As a frontend developer at Kahoot!, you will be part of a flat-structured team that values and encourages developer-led initiatives and who work cross-functionally with designers and testers. Together with the team, you will work on our learning platform, creating new, exciting game features and presentations tools, and have an active role in the maintenance and improvement of these core products.

The position is remote, or based from one of our offices in Norway, Spain, Finland or Denmark. This role is reporting to the Engineering Manager - Frontend Team located in Norway. The company's HQ is in Oslo, Norway.

Responsibilities

• Craft new web apps and new features for the Kahoot! platform, translating ideas into tangible things our users love.
• Work on responsive web design to ensure stability across a large variety of devices.
• Specialize in web application development and work closely with the rest of the team to come up with the best solutions.
• Work closely with, and incorporate feedback from PMs, designers and other engineers.
• Collaborate with our back-end developers to help design the APIs needed to support new features and develop the matching client code.
• Contribute to implementing engaging and exciting UIs.
• Help to continually improve our development processes.
• Take a regular and active role in providing user support.
• Have an ownership of your project.

Requirements

• A deep understanding of the DOM, HTML, CSS, accessibility, and cross-browser support, including mobile browsers.
• BSc Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience with frontend development.
• Worked and experienced in React, Redux.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and some experience with statically typed languages
• Worked on a web app project with a large JavaScript codebase.
• The ability to work both independently, without supervision, and in an agile team.
• The ability to reliably estimate units of work at project, feature, and task levels.
• Understand the basic concepts of how the backend works.
• Preferably have experience with TypeScript
• Preferably have experience working with RxJS or equivalent technologies.
• Preferably have experience with front-end testing frameworks, such as Jest, Selenium, Playwright/Puppeteer & Cypress.

Skills required for a remote position:

• A demonstrated ability to work independently and stay focused
• Effective (digital) communication skills (written and oral)
• Proper time-management
• Confidence to speak up. Our leadership works in a facilitating capability and is always open to hear about possible improvement areas/tweaks on the products
• The ability to collaborate remotely with others
