The Maritime Corporate Communications team aims to support DNV Maritime to build on the high levels of industry trust it has cultivated throughout its 157-year history – a trust status that has propelled it to be the world’s leading classification society.

 

Corporate Communications is a fast-paced unit driving strategic communications across new and traditional media channels, supporting daily press requests from trade and tier 1 media, managing events (e.g. press conferences), tailoring corporate messaging, leading crisis communications, innovating and executing social media campaigns, and delivering best-in-class CEO positioning. All these activities, and more, support DNV’s industry leading share of voice. No day is the same and team members are expert at juggling manifold deliverables to tight deadlines while maintaining a high-quality output geared towards defined outcomes.

 

This newly created role is based in DNV’s head office in Høvik (Oslo). The successful applicant will work hand-in-glove with their Hamburg-based Corporate Communications team and a global community of communications experts in the maritime regions, reporting into the Global Head of Corporate Communications.


Your Responsibilities

  • Act as a spokesperson for DNV Maritime in Norway
  • Position DNV as a leading global company by fostering close relations with trade and tier 1 MSM media, thereby ensuring a leading share of voice in both target segments
  • Support issue and crisis management with planning and messaging development; ensure reporting and close alignment with the Head of Corporate Communications and Director Communications as and when reputational issues evolve
  • Act as trusted business partner and communication consultant to the business and support senior management with media engagement where and when needed
  • Establish an excellent network of internal stakeholders across all arms of the business and establish good governances to facilitate this
  • Key contributor to press office in its successful day-to-day operations (e.g. media relations, events, briefing +’lines to take’ docs, media packs etc)
  • Develop highly professional content for DNV across all channels owned by Corporate Communications
  • Support the implementation of the social media strategy and refine our social media monitoring practices with a focus on issue monitoring and competitor benchmarking
  • Innovate and execute social media campaigns built around service profiling and brand-building
  • Support the delivery of key team and departmental targets and develop processes for internal reporting
  • Collaborate with other business areas and Group function on cross-business area initiatives and defined projects in collaboration with other communications colleagues.
  • Be a strong, diplomatic and persuasive ambassador for the Corporate Communications team internally and externally


Position Qualifications

  • University degree in Communications, Politics, PR, Media or Journalism, or similar
  • A post-graduate qualification in any of the disciplines above would be a bonus
  • More than five years of experience in a PR, communications or journalism role (if you have less experience than this but can nonetheless demonstrate you have what it takes, then we want to hear from you)
  • Experience of working within the Maritime industry would be an advantage but not a pre-requisite
  • Must possess native, or near-native fluency in Norwegian and have native-level English proficiency, both verbally and written
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and organization skills
  • Must have experience in issue and/or crisis management
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of an international, virtual team
